Here is my recent finish of "Fresh Fallen Snow" by LHN in the JCS Ornaments issue of this year.

I used 32ct Cashel Linen color, raw, and finished it as an Ornament.

Very badly neglected are 2 projects that have been in my "to do"pile.
First is the chart "snow" By Bent Creek . I am stitching this on a Charles craft pillow.

The other is a chart from DMC favorites book, 1998......yes 1998.... the fairy has been suffocating in the bag for 13 years lolol I think it is time I let stitch her and let her shine.

Please ENCOURAGE ME!! As you can see it has been a very long while that I have not had the stitching bug.

Well, it has been a long while since my last post. Life has been so busy with my children and homework, gardening baking cooking and of course, housework! Today I thought that I better get my needle and get creative before more time runs away from me

I used this piece of linen that already had most of the coffee names on it and I went along and stitched the coffee beans and the words "frappé". A pretty quick project to get me back into things!

Ah! the nice crisp air has started to come in and the leaves are slowly changing into their fall colors. Fall and Winter are my absolute favorite seasons. The xstitch bug has come back and I am ready to start. Above I am showing you a design I made awhile back.

I am sure that most of you must have the book "Sweet and Simple Country Cross stitch", the design is from there. This lovely design describes "fall" just the way I see it.

I will be asking my mom, who is amazing at sewing, to help me make something nice out of this, maybe a placemat (surrounded by nice fabric), a pot holder... not quite sue, but if you have any ideas, I am all ears!

I received this in a Pillow Exchange that I participated in. Even though there was a bit of trouble getting to me, I was glad it arrived, It is stitched and finished with lots of care, the lovely bow is a nice finish.

As you can tell I haven't been posting over the summer. For me summer is so short and so I take the time to enjoy the beautiful weather, plant my garden & flowers and spend quality time with my children and husband.

When the first leaf falls from the tree and the wind becomes crisper and colder..... that is when my stitching bug comes back. So until then, I hope you take the time to enjoy your summer!

I just wanted to show a post of my Snowflake Tree that came back from the framers. I decided to put it in a frame rather than to make it into a cushion. I tried to choose a frame that looked a little more like wood bark to match it.

When my mom first saw the cat in the magazine she fell head over heals for it. Unfortunately we did not buy the magazine that day and when we went back for it, it was already gone... SOLD OUT!! I was lucky enough to be a member in a forum and made a request for the magazine. After anxiously waiting I got an email back with someone who was willing to part with it.

Today I present you the kitten finished. I will be giving this to my mom on Mother's Day. I will be taking it to the framers this Saturday. I will update another picture when I get it back framed. She will be SO happy when she sees this, it has taken 4 years to get this done for her!!

Also my youngest daughter is crazy for Cows and so I thought that I had to stitch "Petite Vache" for her. This will be my first time stitching from this designer but I am sure they will be great!! Little Sparrow Stitch **Updated

I have a beautiful Maple tree in the front garden. When we bought our home, couple of years ago, I also bought a birdhouse for the tree. For the past couple of years, we have sparrows coming and making their nests. The picture above is of the tree and the new little bird that has come to live and make it it's new home.

So, as you can imagine when I saw the pattern for the sparrow, I just had to stitch it. The design is made in full stitches and half stitches and a little of backstitching. The legs were stitched 1 over 1 on the 32 count fabric. The tail really comes to life with the half and full stitches.

Mini Scissor FOB

I stitched this today for my friend Suzanne. I hope that she will like it. I used a hand dyed silk thread for the top of the FOB and a ready made "dangly". I also added some beads in the middle of the flower.

Getting Organized

I am freak when it comes to organizing my things. Everything has it's place. I just can't stand having to look for something. Because of my 2 young children, I lost my craft room. So now things are even in tighter places. Also the fact that their little hands love to go through my things and pull off my DMC thread number papers!! So, I have this little DMC carry bag that I use to organize my stitching that I am presently doing. the bag zips up all around and also looks pretty neat when left out.

When you open the bag you get a nice plastic cover area where you can store papers ect... and it zips up. It comes with the plastic organizer for your theads that are on the "stitchbow" system... mine aren't but I do use it when my threads are nearing the end. In the middle picture I have added other see thru folders that are a little bigger for odd size projects. At the very end, another little area that is plastified with pockets to put your needles, hoops, rulers.

With these see thu pockets I can still see what each contains!

This is my travel version, just big enought to fit a project that I can take with me and stitch

It is always nice to top up your stash once in awhile. My sister in law came over last night and brought me some of DMC's Marbled fabric (aida), yes, I still stitch on Aida, it is only this year that I have started using linen/evenweave. Also 3 packs of Linen (28ct), Holiday Light Effects and a box of 12 color variation threads (the patterns in there are pretty nice), the Newer version of all the DMC threads and some color infusion threads. Pretty good packet?

LHN Exchange Snowflakes

This is the design that I chose to stitch for my partner Anna in Poland ( Anna's Blog ) in the LHN Exchange. I only stitched part of the design because I wanted to mount it on this basket. I used filling so she can pin needles on as a cushion or just fill the basket with threads or simply decorate it.

Something Different to stitch

I am always looking for something different to stitch on and this time I think I did good. The piece with the stamped red girls is linen and you have to stitch around it and finish it how you like. I was thinking maybe putting my daughter's names or perhaps stitching the word Sisters.... not sure yet.

The square piece is a big piece 45"x 45" . At first I thought to cut it up and make it as a curtain for the kitchen window, my other idea is to perhaps make it as a table cloth. You can stitch both in the the white & natural color of the squares. All I have to do is find a book or ideas that can help me create something as beautiful as the fabric.

My Mom's Stitches

My love for cross stitch started when I was little and I would see my mom with these big printed canvases passing the needles in and out and creating art. Here are just two of her finishes, that I had to have and now are hanging in my home (begged & pleeded and with alot of force lol). They were done on printed canvas.
One day I will take afew more shots of the ones she has hanging at her home.

I would have loved to find this as a pattern and stitch it myself.

This beautiful design was specialy made for my mom's birthday over a year ago. I was over at their house yesterday and I had my camera with me so I snapped up the pictures to add it here. I remember her reaction when she opened up the wrapping. She looked at me and said "this is mine to keep?" lol

I have a wonderful mom and dad too, so this was a pleasure!

I find that the frame I chose really shows up all the lovely colors in the roses

Awhile back I had a poll asking my readers which design to stitch first. The Wreath from Rico had most votes and here it is today. I replaced the stitches inside the flowers with Mill Hill beads #10071. You will find a Bead to DMC conversion Chart here it is very handy to print and keep.

Crescent Colours

My order of crescent colours arrived. The colors are so vibrant! Since I have started stitching more LHN charts, they seem to call for these more often.

BUT!! I also found this beautiful design that I am dying to get my hands on. It was in parts, 1/2 and 3. Christmas land. From what I gather it is a chart pack (incl. silk threads & buttons) Has anyone stitched this before, I would love to see it.

Scissor Biscornu

I am very proud to show you this latest finish. It turned out even nicer than I had imagined. I used the "rose stitch" to replace the heart and it shows up so lovely. It is adorned by lovely eyelet stitches and I like the green trellis. For this piece I used a gingham check fabric.

I am not sure how to finish it off yet. Originally it is supposed ot be finished as a pillow, but I think I will hang it with a nice wire hanger.

Here it is finished, and thank goodness for that. My fabric was starting to fray near the end when I was slip stitching and I got into a panic. Luckily I got it all sewn up. I used DMC 105 to give it that variegated effect. I do like the button I chose to put as it almost looks like an acorn top.

When do you find yourself stitching most?

I am asking this question because I really seem to be a winter stitcher. I find it really hot and sticky to hold a needle in summer. When the weather starts to get cooler and the cold is coming in, this is the time I like to snuggle up on the couch looking out the wintery window.

I bet I would get much more stitching done if I could do it year round, maybe I will give it a small try this year.

Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street

These were stitched 7 years ago when my daughter started to watch Sesame Street. Now that she is older and the younger one is following in her steps, I thought it was time that i put them in her bedroom to enjoy for a couple of years before they get taken down permanently...hopefully one day they will have children and pass them onto theirs.

Here we have Elmo and of course Oscar the Grouch. I love how Oscar's "Go Away" sign is so dirty looking

Bert & Ernie look so lifelike, the color matching was fantastic. And of course Cookie Monster with his chocolate chip cookies that are all "French Knots" for the chips

Caring for your fabric

When it comes to cleaning my fabric after my stitching, I have come to trust this little cleaner above "Fabricare". In the back it says that: it's formula is so mild and is used by museums to clean priceless textile works. I guess after all the time and enrgy put into stitching my personal pieces they too become priceless to me lol.

I used to also use Woolite for delicates, the pink bottle and I loved it too. The only difference with this, there is no perfumes, oils or additives, it contains 100% orvus (whatever that means).

So, my question to you is, What do you use to wash you precious piece once it is finished. Is there something that you would NOT recommend using?

Autumn Leaves by Elizabeth's Designs

This design was stitched quite a few years back but never got around to framing it. Finally it was framed today and I can display it with pride in my bedroom.

The pattern was given to me by someone in an exchange. I loved it more because my birthday is in Autumn and it fit the occassion just nice. There are many specialty stitches in this as well as specialty floss (well, back then anyway if it wasn't DMC it was specialty to me lol).

Design size is 4" x 7"

Specialty Stitches: Satin Stitch, Long Stitch, Rice Stitch, Algerian Eye, Smyrna Cross

at the end of the sampler a little antique gold squirel charm is nestled on top of the acorns

the acorns were stitched with DMC Pearl Cotton#8

satin stitch blockes were worked with Needle Necessities #8

adorned in the middle are Glass Treasure flowers mill hill (12451)

two colors of beads were placed as buds

I can finally reveal it. So quick to do and I love the hearts all around. I will finish this for my partner as a tin box cover. The idea in the project was to stitch Red for your heart. I thought it was going to be quite a challenge, but then I saw this adorable design and could not resist.

Snowflake Biscornu

Another Biscornu. This design was from a Greek needlework magazine. It was not intended for a biscornu but as you know, you can take any design and as long as you have a square border, you can have a biscornu.

I am giving this one to my friend Suzanne, for teaching me to make there.

There were 2 DMC colors used for this design 825 & 813

On the backstitching I decided to use the opposite to give it more contrast

Here she is skating away. I am so glad that I got her done on time. I am sure that my little girl will love her. I made quite a few changes to the design. I added snowflakes, used Wisper thread for a wooly look and Kreinik metallic for shine.

for the skates I used a Kreinik thread #8 102 to add shine to the blades

For the hat, scarf & gloves I used Wisper thread W72,W795 to give it a real wooly look

and here Mill Hill Metal treasures 15001 were added for the flakes.

Hearts and Roses Sampler by Sweetheart Tree

I am proud to present this beautiful sampler that was featured in the magazine "Cross Stitch & Needlework" May 2007. It is such a gorgeous design. There are beads, paillettes, specialty stitches (Upright Herringbone, Diamond eye, Half diamond eye, Scotch stitch, oblique Herringbone) and of course the beautiful red heart.
I will be finishing this up in a Clock Frame from Olde Colonial Designs. Once it is framed I will add the picture for you all to see.

Who wouldn't want to give a kiss to a face like that? Like at the attitude lol
I have to stitch another 3 of these frogs and turn him into a lovely biscornu. It may be a couple more weeks before he is completed, as there is alot of detail, but so much fun!

Biscornu Christmas Style

It was really fun adding the beads to this design. It really made the holly show. I used 2 different color fabrics to finish this and to give it some color.

I used colors DMC: 304(red), 520 (green) * Bead: 2063

The year is stitched 2010, on the reverse

My First Biscornu - Ring o' Roses

Yes that is right, my first one ever. Luckily it was a nice simple design to do. I used DMC variegated thread 4180 and I think that it gave a nice effect.

So here it is, my first cube ever. A little of imagination, hot glue gun, fabric, batting and needles and voila! I must say, not bad for a first try.

My friend and I ventured to a Cross stitch shop. I happen to come across this chart and fell in love with it. My daughter is just learning how to skate so I thought that it would be perfect. I am doing the scarf part in Rainbow Gallery Whisper thread to give it some effect. I might even add a silver metallic thread to the skates.

These are the gorgeous colors. I am also using Zweigart 28ct Lugana Metalic (3270/3809/55)

Color: gold/mushroom.

WIP - Enchanted Alphabet by Lavender Lace

I have been working on this patterns for a couple of years now and last night I decided to dig it out and try and do a letter a day (at the least) I am hoping to finish this by the end of the year...hoping lol

The color change in the letters are so beautiful and so is the font.

Tiny Tidings V - Wish Upon a Flake

This adorable design is found in the Tiny Tidings V chart pack. At first sight it doesn't look all that fantastic. As you start to stitch it the colors really come through.

The words "wish upon a " are stitched over 1 thread

Instead of stitching the flakes I am using Glass beads #00161

and there is the word Flake. now just to stitch the beads.

When Just Nan first released this Limited Edition beauty I knew I had to get one. The Ladybug is beautifully crafted and I love the idea of the opening on her back. One side is the Pincushion and the other is a needle book. The design was so detailed and fun to do.
